Three letters addressed to Colonel Richard Varick regarding a number of items. The first letter, dated 1784 January 1, discusses Varick's handling of Washington's private and public papers. Washington praises Varick for the excellent job he had performed in organizing the papers. All letters bear a certification by Simeon Dewitt, attesting that the letters are true copy by Washington of the original letters sent to the addressee.
